Genealogy is a new genre in fiction for me and I wish I had tried it sooner. Although most of the authors I've read so far are English and I have to tune my ear to the differences in everyday speech I just love every single one of them. And this series is the latest and is excellent. I found myself reading way to fast so I could see how the mystery was solved. Hoping to see the next in the series soon. Give this author a try. Wow, this is a really great read. I stumbled on it by accident but once I began to read I was captured by the story.
I look forward to reading more from Mr. Waddell. The characters are realistic and likeable. Good news for Nigel and Foster, who both have new relationships in their lives.
Read this book in 2 days during my holidays. Devouring the first book a week ago and now this one. Genealogy buffs will enjoy the twisty tale of fundamentalists making amends for past wrongs. Love the characters, Foster and the boy Gary. I could see these characters being developed further for a future book.
Likeable characters working towards solving murders & kidnappings. The dialogue flows beautifully with characters behaving believably. Unflattering view of the Mormon church so be forewarned.
Great book as was the first. Both my husband and I enjoyed it thoroughly. My book club read the first book and loved it unanimously (a very rare occurrence) and many of us chose to follow up with this 2nd book. Highly recommend. It is different and it is very very good.
A well written mystery. I appreciate the time the author spent to get the facts right about the church that was part of the plot.

There are many ways to write a genealogical mystery. As many ways as with any mystery. If you like thrillers, taut, tension-filled, and stories of odd couples, you are in luck. Dan Waddell creates fresh, vivid characters, real people you can root for, then puts them in deal peril, peril you can believe. All through the magic of genealogical research.
